I respectfully disagree with you and am amused that you would use South Park as the support for your argument. My feelings about this and most people could care less about what Hollywood thinks.

What the Japanese do is vastly different than what we do in our slaughter houses. I don't want to debate animal intelligence with you, but dolphins are among the most sentient creatures on Earth, next to humans. They have static familial relationships that last over long periods of time, recognize each other as individuals, engage in play (a sign of high intelligence), and some scientists say even dream.

I am one who sincerely respects all cultures and religions, but the slaughter of dolphins like that is just reprehensible and completely unnecessary as a means of obtaining protein.

Cultural mores change over time and this is one that is long past needing to be done with. You know some cultures think it is okay to marry 9 year old girls? Some cultures murder albinos because they believe that their body parts are endowed with special powers. Therefore don't argue that we just don't understand their culture. Sometimes wrong is just wrong.

The really sad part is that the Japanese government is knowingly poisoning their population by packaging and selling both the dolphin and whale meats as other higher priced quality meat - knowing they both have extremely high levels of mercury in them.

I know you said no debate but....

1)You're amused, yet South Park actually did make a good point in that episode. The show makes fun of stuff, but does it in a way that also puts it into perspective(sort of..). It makes sense.

2)Animals are animals. Just because one is supposedly "stupider" than the other, or, not as intelligent, does not make it any more a reason for cruelty to occur. It happening at all is a disgrace.

3)I don't recall Guitar Man stating that he was "with" the Japanese, in the killing of dolphins...He was against it just as you or I are. Don't manipulate people's words.

4)Respectfully, we do all have different beliefs...

That's pretty much the point of South Park. It takes modern issues and approaches them with satire and hyperbole to get a message out. Just look at any episode, on the day it's released (they can change the show right up until hours before air, unlike most cartoons, which is why they're the most successful cartoon based on current events).

The same can be said for what goes on in our U.S slaughter houses & factory farms...

You're right, we do. Some are just more astute than others.

How about we address our own cruelties and then try to take on the rest of the world.
