    Pathologist needed!

My yellow tang is covered with this stuff and his eyes are bad too. I bought "kordon Ich attack by aquaherbals. It is the organic type so it won't kill the little critters(ampiphods?) on the bottom. I went according to the instructions which is 1 teaspoon/10 gallons of tank water. It says you can double the dose if it is severe.

I read the other thread but don't have any garlic juice as of tonight.

Note, his right side rib cage looks like it is bleeding internally. Any help with this?

you could try a freshwater dip, but if the tang is in as bad a condition as you described it might be too late and/or too stressful. do you have a hospital tank you can get setup?

+1 If hes bleeding internally you'll prolly loose em. A hospital tank would be ideal but if you don't have one. I've seen a product by Fishvet Inc called No-Ich, and I've seen it work (unless it was something else in there) in my buddys tank (he couldn't afford a hospital tank atm) seemed to be an effective method. I haven't used it personally, but if it really is effective it might be worth a look.

that is a great article! i will have to look into getting something set up in the future. at this time hopefully this ich killer will work. i know it smells like garlic so maybe it will disorient the pest and eventually they will die through their own lifecycle?

    thanks again illWill!

active ingredients in the mentioned treatment i purchased is 5% napthoquinone and 95% inert ingrediets and here is wiki link:

ok, yesterday a.m. "Clyde", my yellow tang, died. I don't see any ich on my last 4 fish which are green chromisis.

I went down to the fish place today and talked to the owner. He told me there is no way to rid your tank of ich except with copper. He also said that just because I went 9 months without an ich outbreak doesn't mean it wasn't in your tank. He admitted though that ich needs a host within 14 days of hatching or else it will die. So my question to him was if there was no ich outbreak for 9 months then how did it survive past 14 days? He said the fish had it but you didn't see it. I suppose then the severity of the ich and what is seen on the fish depends on how healthy the fish are? Is this true?

I am afraid of putting up alot of money right now for new fish if the tank is full of ich.

OH, before I forget, the night before he died I took his normal nori and dipped it into minced garlic which soaked up the juice(new jar). Made by Spice World in Orlando, FL. The ingredients are garlic, water and citrus acid. Prior to feeding him this(he ate some) he was still very lively. Would this have killed him so suddenly? Note, the bleeding or whatever that irritation was had went away the day before he died.

For the future, buy Marine Garlic designed for the use of feeding fish. I use Garlic Guard by Seachem or Brightwell's Garlic, but Kent also makes a garlic supplement which I have used. Don't use garlic in a jar...please.
