    hi thanks for the advice on the skimmer,but now need help to get rid of a mantis shrimp that i spotted a day or two ago.i heard the tapping and turned the lights off,and yes out he popped ran about for about 30 seconds,then back in it went.i know i need to locate his home but i guess this is not so easy any ideas :eek:

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    My suggestion is to do a search on Traps, and google it. You can also get some idea of his favorite location by placing a small piece of raw seafood at night and waiting and watching with a flash light. Of course remove to remove the bait if it goes uneaten.

    It will be very hard to sneak up on him they have better eyesight then we do.;) Good luck!! I actually saw one go into a small hole in a rock. I plugged the hole with my feeding stick and removed the rock. Dipped it and he came squirting out.

    Take a 2 liter soda bottle, rinse it out real good. Cut of the top part including the entire neck and then invert it back into the bottle so that the lid is not pointing towards the base. Put some food in the bottle and wait.

    Crud picture from google but it worked on this crawdad.

    thanks for the help,my wife saw him whacking the live rock 2day and pointed a very tiny hole he came out of cheers//:-/
