    is 80 degrees good for a mixed reef tank?

    That's where mine stays at even in the heat of the summer.

    I always keep mine around 79. 80 is fine, but it's on the higher side of ok. My heater doesn't cut on till the water drops below 78 though.

    80 is OK IME

    I did have some issues with corals when my tank (pre chiller) reached 84 (softies and LPS mainly, showed signs of distress, closing down, deflating during the daytime )

    but up to that point they all seemed fine
