You will be limited on fish with a 14g. I personally would sell the 29g and buy a 55g kit from petco/petsmart for $150-$200.

A WC is not costly. In fact, it's probably the cheapest thing you have to do to maintain your tank. You can get $200g worth of salt for like $50 & water costs about $0.05/gallon, assuming you invested in an RODI unit.

ATO is too ex*****ve for me at the moment...and i dont have a return pump...a sump...a good skimmer...a good filter..nothing...so i feel like a 14g biocube is a good way to go till i get the correct equipment.

I know that...a 55g is too expensive for me.

55g kit from petco/petsmarts, comes with filter, hood, tank, etc. The good thing with a 55 is you can always buy lights, skimmer and stuff for it later. I would rather buy the 55g kit then waste money on a 14g. Why spend money on a 14g when you know you will get a bigger tank sooner or later. You don't need a sump and things like that now. You can always add it on later.

You could do a gravity fed 5g ATO for about $15.

    -5g bucket
    -solenoid valve
    -Kent ATO float valve.

    no pump needed.

I think you still haven't told us your problems, only saying its gone bad. What are your parameters?

I refuse to make a baseless recommendation.

If you don''t have time I certainly wouldn't suggest getting a smaller tank.

You could get a refractometer for testing exact SG levels. An ATO will keep up with evaporation, thus keeping a constant salinity level.
