my tank has been up and running for almost 3 weeks now. i used 150 lbs dry rock and 120 lbs of live sand. i am starting to get brown alge growing on the rock and sand. How do i correct this or just let it keep cycling. have not done any water changes yet. thanks

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
At 3 weeks you are probably pretty heavy into the diatom stage. The diatom bloom is the result of excess silicates provided by the new tank, sand, equipment.

The diatoms will die off as soon as the silicates are used up, different time frame for all new tanks but a couple weeks.
