So I think I can no longer call my system a 'mixed reef' and more of a 'SPS dominant system" since for no observable reason my chalice and acans died out among other LPS. Oh well, buying up all the clams and sps my LFS has so it doesn't matter much.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !

A FTS will helps us establish what type of system you have. ::)

Seriously though, sorry about the LPS. I know it's extremely disappointing but I hope it was none of your favorite pieces.

I tell you sticks sure seem easier to grow than a lot of LPS and fish.

If you have to make your self feel better acquiring clams I can understand....

I have started thinking this many times . This tank just isn't for LPS... If I totally gave up on them, I could make the SPS thrive even more I believe. But the my LFS will get in some awesome looking donut coral or acan or something and the mixed reef lives on.

Im glad my LFS doesnt get amazing LPS in lololol.

I wish i could figure it out. I have been chatting with hunter for a couple days but I can't make head or tails. For 2 months my chalice frags where taking off, then.... all my LPS started receding.

He is probably right about nutrient levels but im getting great growth from Z's and P's and have a bit of a cyano bloom.

Flow rates are stumbling block I came up against Alex

you get enough flow for the SPS and the LPS cling to their skeletons in fear of being blasted away

I can still get away with Acans, and a couple of Wellso's on the sand bed, but any higher than that, they just do not look their best, due to the higher flow rates
