    Hey all,

    Long time no post.

I am currently crusing along with my 55g reef and its doing great. Only housing three fish at the moment (Flame Angel, 2 clowns).

I am looking for another add to the tank. I am looking at a smaller tang. Has anyone had success keeping tangs in a 55g ? Does anyone know of which tang species are the smallest?

I know this topic causes alot of debate, and for the record I have not purchased a tang, or planning to in the near future, but just looking at what people have had a success with and what they havent.

    Cheers

    Ryan.

If it's a 3ft tank and its a smaller tang, like a little yellow or hippo, he would be just fine. However you'd have to move him a year or 2 down the line as it grows.

Thanks for that. Thats a very nice looking tang. If I got a tang my tank would be pretty maxed out, so my choice has to be good!

Cheers. I always seem to look at the tank and go, "its pretty wide". Granted its not a 6ft 125g, which look very nice at the LFS :p "Wife nudge nudge". I am moving at the end of the year, so maybe an upgrade is in store :).

Should be fine if you get a small one and plan to sell him or move him in a few years

How fast do tangs and fish in general grow? there tiny, like 2 inch tangs at the LFS. How long would it take for them to become at 9 inch monster?
