    Hi all,
I'm finally back and ready to get a tank up and running. My RSM got delivered smashed into many small pieces a few months ago, so now I'm going to build a bigger tank. Anyway, my Wife and kids really like yellow tangs so what is the best size tank to work with in order to have them in my tank? I know they like room to move around so is 65 gal enough?
    Thanks!
    Matt

whilst tank size (liters/gallons) is important as they are heavy on bioload. Tank length is also vital, tangs love to swim- up and back, up and back. ect...

I personally wouldn't keep a yellow or most tangs for that matter in a tank smaller than 4 foot.

I would say a minimum would be a 48" x 18" footprint so a 75 would be as small as I would go for the long haul.

If you plan on having one or two, I would say no lower then a 90g

Yellow tangs do not keep well in pairs. If you want more than one the rule is keep them in odd numbers so a 6' tank would be what you need for more than one. A 4' tank would be ok for one.:)

my yellow tang is show-size in a 72 gallon aquarium... he's been thriving for nearly 2 years now. I do however plan to upgrade to a 120 gallon in the next year or so...
    Cheers!
