Do you guys find that tangs mostly in the Acanthurus family are more prone to sickness than most? If I'm giving garlic and vitamins with the food and feeding correctly do I really have anything to worry about?
I was more interested in the Achilles tang and the orangeshoulder. I guess the Powder blue as well since I'm asking. I'm not throwing all these together, just wondering about each individually.
    Thx

No one will question that Tangs are some of the most beautiful of fish. The drawback is they inherently have a real thin slime coat which gives ich more access to the fishes skin. The use of Marine-Max to boost the immune system is unsurpassed in effectiveness and has the added benefit of being totally natural. Garlic has some benefit as it does with humans, however, there is no scientific evidence to back claims it wards off ich.
I would use the Marine-Max and my best advice is when you have some Tangs and all is well, do not add anything else to the tank. Leave well enough alone...........

The major problem with keeping tangs is most do not keep or worry about keeping the total dissolved Oxygen up to total saturation point and I'd say 90% really don't no the level of dissolved 0'2 in their tanks water.

Secondly Diet is a major problem All mine ever get is Omega flakes the marine flakes and the spirulina flakes no meat of any type

Last but not least there is the problem of water quality, in general Tangs require as high water standards then about any coral does .
