I got a nice yellow tang of around 4-5 inch three days ago... Now it's adapting to my tank. However I notice that beside pecking at algae in my tank, it is also developing interest on my red sponges... I have never read about tangs eating sponge yet... And my coral beauty is not interested in sponge either...

Has any one every observed tang eating sponge?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I have seen tangs picking at sponges but not actually eating them. It seems like sometimes they are eating sm. pieces of algae or some mico thing I can not see. Tangs just love to cruise and pick.;D

yeah, I'd say it's probably eating algae off of it... my emerald crabs pick at my red sponge occasionally and my sea hare will graze across it every once in a while... they're definitely going after the algae that's on it.
