Well it's the end of the semester and we have to move out.
I'm taking down my 10G tank and placing it in a storage room.

The tank is been set up for like 2months.

What I want to do is just throw the sand away and keep my rock in trashbags.
They will be in the storage room for 3 months.

    Question is.

When I get the tank back up, how much die off should I expect?
    Big cycle? Normal cycle?

I'm assuming what ever live it's in those rocks will be dead but not sure if I should expect a big cycle?

your not going to want to use the same rocks if they are going to sit there for 2 months, the die off will bomb your tank. unless you boil them and scrape all the crap off but then they wont be live rock so your going to have to restock on live rock. and your tanks going to need to cycle all over again most likely

the thing is i never really put any livestock in this tank. I didnt get time to do it this semester.
so its just sitting there with water for 2 months.

when i set it back up in 3 months, i was just going to put the rock back in and wait for the cycle to happen again? would that work?

    even if i rinse it?
i mean the rock is "base rock" and its only been on my tank for less than 2 months so it doesnt really have much
    "live" in it.

I was just wondering if I were to put it back, will i be expecting my ammonia levels to be really high and take longer to go down.

I would suggest boiling...aka "nuking" the rock. This way you can be sure there is no life on it and you won't get a crazy gross cycle when you set the tank up again.

Yup. No problem. It's probably your best bet.
