Hey, i can relate to you, im a freshmen in HS, i have a really nice reef tank, a 29g biocube same as you..A while ago i didnt listen to ANYONE on here, my club, my friends nothing about reefing..BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!! listen to everyones advice, the majority of the people on here know alot of good info and are willing to tell you. Just be open to opinions and if you ask a question you have to be wanting a answer right? well, when people tell you the answer, you dont take the advice..YOu have to just relax and be patient.

    Good luck with everything.

once again, my advice to you would be to lift your head and move forward

life throws the odd curve ball at us, and if we duck down, we miss it
what we need to do, is stand firm and swing at it

    we may miss it
    but at least we tried
and the world rewards those that try and not those that give up

you have had some negative experiences on here
but you have also made some good friends - which is proven by the comments made so far

you do attract controversy? I am sure you can understand this

    you need to understand that
3 reef is a site that you control and that you get out of 3 reef what you want

you can take what you like, ignore the rest
you dont have to listen to all advice
but you should out of courtesy, thank those that offer you good advice
to follow that advice or not, is your choice

your 3 reef experience and your reef keeping experience
would both be better IMHO, if you could learn to appreciate and accept a lot of good advice, given by good people, who are giving up their free time to help you

Well before I go it's not that bad advice is making me go; i just want to go on my own for a while while using that advice to help with my tank. Anyway I also have to focus on schoolwork more too, although i have only 1 B+ and everything else A's. What i wanna do is just go on my own and come back with an awesome tank (hopefully covered in coralline lol). And then hopefully I can also overcome my stubborness and avoid attracting controversy. Anyway thanks Steve; not giving up yet!

SaltwaterGuy, it's been nice having you around.

It was nice to be able to help you out; you helped me a bit as well.

I know what you are talking about when it comes to the negative comments; it went back and forth some, but just try not to take criticism so personally. People are trying to give advice from their personal experiences, and what they found worked best for them.

Take things with a grain of salt. Listen to others, but bounce it off your own experiences too. If it doesn't sound right to you, then ask someone else. If someone has more experience than others, I would trust them more, thus listen to them more than I might, others.

When you do come back, come back with a cup of apple juice in one hand, a blueberry muffin in the other...and call my name. ;)

The best of luck on the tank, buddy. I hope you do well with it and it thrives for you.. We'll see you around.

    Sean.

Good luck, sorry I couldn't post here sooner.

When someone gives you feedback you can turn it into something negative and it becomes criticism, or you can make it positive and it becomes just that, positive feedback. Even if someone flat out insults me I have learned to listen to their insult and understand what caused them to insult me and see if there really is something within myself that I can change.

I agree that school is paramount and everything else can come later. Don't be too anxious to grow up either because let me tell you even as a 24 year old I wish I was 18 again. Take advantage of being young and free. Maintaining a saltwater tank doesn't really allow you to do that.
