I'm sorry if this has been covered before but I'm trying to find out how long of a photo period people with Strong T5 lights are running.

Since I switched to the 6x39w T5 fixture on my 46 bow I have been slowly acclimating the corals and increasing the photo period over the last 2 weeks. I am up to 8 hours of all 6 bulbs on and run 2 bulbs only for an hour before and after for dawn/dusk.

How long should the lights be on for optimal coral growth and is there a point where the lights are on too long?

Hi, the practice of a lot of us is; first two hours = actinic only (your 2 bulbs if possible) then the rest come on for 8 hours and when they go off the last two hours of the 2 actinic for a total of 12 hours.
