I'm all confused over what to buy now. If I'm dropping over $500 on a lighting fixture I want to do this right.

The dude I was talking to at the store has 2 120 gallons each with MH. Also a 265. Never has a heat issue. I trust the guy as I talk to him regularly. No chiller on any tank.

Now, if I do a 8x54 Tek fixture, will I be able to keep clams on the sandbed, on a 75G?

-edit - Didn't mean to hijack, just riding along on the heating issues on MH vs. T5.

this is good. I'm really considering the MH lighting...again, sorry to jack this thread.

would a chiller be necessary on a 29G? I hope not..

zach, does this answer your question...

ermano, it depends...If the room is climate controlled and you can put a fan blowing across the water surface you may be ok with MH's on a 29 gallon

I would highly recommend against tap water, I learned the hard way. Air water and ice has good selections of ro-di units, same with ebay if you're careful.
