Hello, I have a 36gallon bow front tank (approx. 2ft deep). I would like to keep a few SPS and clams in my tank. I have been researching lighting and I have me eyes on a 24"W 4lamp Aquaticlife T5 unit (total of 96W). Would like me enought life to keep the most demanding corals like SPS and clams? I realize I would have to place them closer to the light. I also considered Metal Halide but I'm a bit concerned about the heat output and T5's are a lot more economical.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

The Aquaticlife fixture looks pretty cheap (not the inexpensive kind of cheap) to me. I would look at the following two. Reefgeek.com carries Tek and ATI fixtures. Both are very good. The ATI reflectors are better than Tek, but not a lot of people have the money to invest in one of these fine units.

The Tek comes with the bulbs (high quality) but you must buy the legs and the splash shield (about $80 added on the price of the fixture). The ATI, if I remember correctly, must be hung.

The ATI fixture I saw is a 6x24W. The Tek is a 4x24W. If they made a 6x24W, I would go for it......but alas, they do not......
