Yeah the aptasia is getting taken care of. I already have the syringe thing. There are a few that my peppermints don't seem to want.

Edit: Peppermints couldn't get to them. These individuals retreated into holes when I spot fed them their poison. Last time they'll ever come out of those holes.

And we're no strangers to aptasia. The first time we saw them we thought, "Whoa cool! Something living we didn't purchase, BONUS!" until we figured out just what they are. Now they'll never be gone.

80 degrees is not harmful to a reef. That's not the problem.

Try placing the polyps in a shaded area. I have never had good luck with polyps until recently. I bought some healthy zoas and placed them in direct light about 20 inches away from 150W MH's and 64W actinic PC's. They started to close up about a week after I got them. I dipped them in Seachems Dip and placed them in the same area with negative results. A week later I placed them under an overhang of LR, and roughly three days later one polyp reopened. Everyday showed signs of recovery. Now about a month later they are all open and seem to be doing fine in the same area..

Try moving them into a shaded area with medium flow.. See what happens..

It's just weird that they had been opening there for a couple weeks, then all the sudden the stalks of about four of them looked inflamed, slightly detached from the frag, and a little translucent. I hear zoas can be odd sometime and close up for a week or so for no especially apparent reason.

They definitely can be. I have 4 kinds in my tank now, the first 2 went wonderfully. The second two seem to open intermittently!!! Who knows why. No predators, not too much/too little light, moved for flow in different areas. They're just grumpy.

The aips could be stinging them thus the reason they look swollen

I may take longer for some zoas to start to close up. Before I figured out the my problem with the zoas I have now, I had anoher colony that was healthy for about two months until they slowly started closing up and eventually died off. I didn't know what to do at that time and was told maybe my tank was too clean (low nutrients).

Just give it a try and see what happens. It won't hurt them getting less light, that's for sure..

I think I may have found the culprit. I just saw a long, hair-thin worm near the frag that they are on. I can't get a picture that is good enough to show him to you. I think he was maybe 15mm long and maybe a little thicker than a hair. Any suggestions?
