I'm looking to change my skimmer, my AquaC 180 is just not doing the job. I am looking at either the SWC 160 cone or the Bubble Magus NAC6. Anyone with any expereince with either of these can chime in and help me decide.

i have ~8"x11" of space for a skimmer in my sump. I would like to spend less money so that makes me lean towards the BM, but I hear great things about the SWC, so that makes me lean towards that. Anyone think the 120 would be good enough for a 65g with medium/high bioload?

I have heard great things about both but I plan on getting the SWC when I upgrade my tank.

why isn't the aquaC 180 cutting it? i thought they were great skimmer. oh well, change is a good thing. i vote SWC, they are sponsors and look really pretty and, as we all know, aesthetics are everything when it comes to skimmers!

Love my Bubble Magus NAC6. ( I have also heard great things about SWC though.)
My NAC6 pulls a lot of gunk - is pretty quiet and extremely easy to setup and calibrate.
After 4 months I pulled the thing apart to do a thorough cleaning. The mesh wheel held up well - only about 5% loss. They do give you an extra one when you buy it. 3reef Sponsor TB Aquatics sells the mesh wheels if you need more. Punch 'NAC6' in the searchbox at the top of the page to see my 'unboxed' thread with more pics. I can't speak from experience on the SWC, but I can say the NAC6 is a great value.

I'm not sure if it is just too big for my system, but I has never produced much for me. I could go months without having to empty the cup.

I think I am going to go with the SWC 160 from Luke at ReefFiltration. I did a bunch of reading over at reefcentral and it seems that the SWC is better overall compared to the BM NAC6, but there are pros and cons to each; both seem like really nice skimmers for the price. I'm not into buying the top skimmers, especially after hearing Ken Feldman talk about his studies on skimmers which showed that most skimmers pull out nearly the same exact amount of stuff. It's more or less about ease of use for me.

With a gate valve, the SWC should have the upper-hand there. That said, my NAC6 does not jump around at all and was easy to set. For my particular tight sump area, it has worked out great.

I just bought an AquaC 180...but your comments are making me question now. But I got it and a Mag7 new for $165...so can't be too upset.

I went from an aquac to a bubble magus na7. I'm amazed at how silent it is. It's doing a great job for me and the price is right. I'm told swc is better construction and I believe it. Bm is cheap but very effective. It also has an incredibly small footprint. As everyone told me when I was asking around, these are all good skimmers. Any one of them is a solid choice.
