I have an SWC 160 cone skimmer which has been running for about 10 months. It has been skimming fine but over the past month or slow there has been a steady increase in the amount of microbubbles that are being produced. Its to a point now where it really affects the look of the display tank. and I cannot figure out why.

The skimmer sits at about 9 inches and of course I have cleaned it thoroughly without making a difference, I have also made evry kind of adjustment possible without the microbubbles improving.

    Any ideas ?

    Did you change anything?

I have the same skimmer on my 90 as well, it was a bad move to change the salt in my case. It might have triggered the cyano outbreak, due to the improper skimming. It was making way too much bubble almost like soapy water. I used up all the salt recently at last and I will stick with the salt before.

    I hope this helps.

Salt crept in the tube the air line hooks up to on the pump inlet
Had to clean my pump once a month
    I used a bobbie pin(sp)to clean it

    It's very hard to see
