I have always been told to shop around more..we have about 6 or so within 30 miles...I have ventured out a bit...but have not strayed from my friends at O Street Aquarium in Sacramento...Just feels good to know everyone by name, and them to know yours...if they don't have it...they can get it..and I think Joe knows my parameters as well as I do...great thread.

 

I always give my neighborhood LFS first shot at everything I buy. Many times he is able to match online pricing on things he does not mormally stock and the distributor can have it to him on the next truck, usually later that same day. I guess Phoenix is a large distribution center for Central Pet who owns just about every aquarium supply company anymore.

I will pay a premium if I can get it locally just because of the service they provide when I need it.

 

I've given up on my LFS. Every one of them is terrible. They either don't carry what I need (like food vitamin soaks), are insanely overpriced (Koralia 2 over a hundred bucks) or their tanks are utterly disgusting with algae. I do not want to pay 55 bucks for a tiny soft coral frag on a rock full of bubble and hair algae. No thanks.

Online only for me for everything I need.

 

I have 3 LFS and Petco within 20 minutes of me. For livestock they all have fallen since I have gotten into the hobby. Going sometimes 3 weeks with out a order. Petco has the best selection and a great department manager on top of the tanks. For parts, one the LFS is absolutely great! Maybe 2-5 dollars overpriced compared to the internet. I'm getting ready to start livestock shopping.
