i have this sump set up for my 65 gallon. i was thinking of putting a baffle against the sock and putting my pump for the skimmer in with the sock , then a refugium in the middle , then return pump... will this work?

I think that the fuge you will get will be so small it wont really help the tank. If anything put some extra LR in there for extra filtration, that would give you the best gains IMHO
