Seems like I keep reading about people not having enough flow.

Im sure I could have saved a 150 bucks and gotten something smaller, but is there any reason not to have that size pump besides the cost ?

Seems like it uses the same amount of power as pumps half its size.

I remeasured my head and its more like 9 feet.

A Dart on a 45 is complete overkill and not appropriate. It may cause issues without a very fine control on the output (water flow could be too high).

You should have between 6 and 10 times the tank volume in flow rate per hour On a 45 you only need 270-450 gallons per hour.

At 8' of head, a Dart is pushing 2160 gph at about 150 watts. That's at least 5-6 times what's appropriate.

A mag7 or 9 would be more appropriate. The 7 would get you 300 gph at 8' and would draw about 60 watts. The 9 gets you 600 gph for 80 watts. The 7 might be a bit under powered. The slightly over, but pretty good.

I would return the Dart and get something a LOT smaller (like a mag 9)

It's time for you to upgrade the tank to a 210. You already have the pump. ;D
