    OK,
There are many many sug / fuge versions around here. Too many for a newbe to decide on. So I thought a good old fashion vote would help me decide.

    So, For a 90 gallon tank with a 30 gallon sump/fuge,
What does your sump Intake run ?
    1.) Filter Sock
    2.) Bio Balls
    3.) Nothing

Just looking at the filtration for the intake right now.

Thanks for playing along. This will help choose my sump fate..

    \Cheers

I used to do a filter sock. Not anymore. When I got rid of it, my nitrate levels cut in half. I just let the skimmer do the job now.

Pretty poor results I must say.
1 sock, 2 no soc, and a strainer thingy.

    I guess I will flip a coin

I run a filter sock and then the water trickles down over bio balls. I might ditch the filter sock at 6 months when I fire up the skimmer.

LOL see why I tell anyone to remove them and they call bio balls a nitrate factory . The main reason BIO balls get that name is the sponge filters people use .. I never used them and had bio balls and never had a issue with nitrates . Burn the socks LOL

I'd run the thing totaly unfilterted I do send some of my skimmer outlet through some floss and that is changed bi weekly when I clean the skimmer.
