sump design and what to put in refug

    I have my sump is built off of scims I have found online now I need to know what macroalgea to put in it and any suggestion on livesand or mud or are they the same thing

    most go with sand, live rock and chaeto. Maybe some mangroves if you can care for them.

    I built a sump with a built in refug im trying to get a pic up but my tablet dosnt want to post it. It has a trickle filter that will have either live rock or bio balls in, follwed by a chamber for the skimmer and the the skimmer which is about 11high x 10 long x 11wide all in inches then that will go to the return chamber, im concernd that wont be big enoghe for my 55 gallon the sump is a modified 30 gallon. If anyone can tell me how big my refug should be it would help if that isnt big enoughe I have a old 10 gallon but I dont want to get anymore glass cut
