Sump Cleaning

    Hey Everyone,

    How often do you guys/gals clean your sump? My nitrates have been 20 for sometime now and I'm wondering if my issue is with debris in the sump. I cleaned it out tonight by stiring up the dirt with a power head and then pumping out the water but thought I would see what others do..

    As an FYI the only thing I have in the Fuge is a couple pieces of rock and Cheto, which I do keep trimmed back to promote growth. There is no sand bed.

    It's possible that it was a factor to your nitrate problem. I would need to know more about your system to know for sure.

    Shopvac-ing the rest of the build up/water after the sump has been drained would also work.
