    Hi everyone,

I am trrying to determine how to set up my sump/refuge. I have a 75g DT and am using a 40g breeder sump. My design will be skimmer, return, refuge.

My question is; doing research I have found two different ways of getting the water to the fuge.

    1. tee off the overflow
    2. tee off the return line

Which one is better, or is it a personal choice.

He he, my personal choice is neither- but that's just my successful for me DIY sump.
MIne mainly goes skim section- chaeto area- return pump

If you're want two feeds to the sump- one for the skimmer sectkion, another for the
fuge section, I personally would tee off the the overflow- some have two overflows, etc. It is a common way to do it.

They often have a valve to the fuge section, and often run that slower than the non valved skim section.

My sump is a 30 gallon set up like yours, skimmer/return/refuge, and I T'ed off my return, simply because my return pump is way overrated for my overflow anyways so it seemed like a logical choice, if I had two overflows I'd have one go to the refuge and one to the skimmer

thanks guys. I have a mag 9.5 for my return so will probably set it up of the return line in order to compensate for the bigger return. I am waiting until after june to finish this build due to vacation. right now I am finishing the stand and once that is complete I will build put the baffles in the sump.
