i just added about 15lbs(1 inch) of sugar sized grain sand to my biocube 29(not running yet). a user here said i might have problems because the sand will cloud up the tank with a simple disturbance. do you guys think ill have issues with it? thanks:)

If you flow gets too high in areas it will blow away.

I have a 1"will sanded of sugar finefor sand in my standard 29. I get a sandstorm when I poi t the powerhead just when I point the powerhead at the sand. Otherwise I am fine.

If you want a sand goby then I would not reccomend this size sand.

I bought some play sand from lowes, filtered it out with panty hose, and that's how I started my fresh water tank. When I converted said tank to a salt water, I simply kept the same sand on the bottom, and added some live sand to help the cycle process. I don't recommend pointing the powerheads straight down (I've got mine almost level with the surface, and facing each other from opposite ends) but everything is happy, and there are very few dead spots. It wasn't until later I learned that some play sand can leach silicates, but fortunately I haven't had that problem. Just as Seano said, some creatures prefer finer sand as they live in there, but being it's already an hour since you added the sand, you probably already notice the water clearing up. I don't really know of any sand that, when you first add it, won't cloud up. You should be fine, just watch you power heads.
