    Figured I should introduce myself.
I am new to 3reef obviously. My saltwater tank is sort of an unknown for me. It was a rescue from my brother who left it running for about 5 years with no fish, and just a few inverts and was about to just tear it down and kill it all.

I figured, "hey, how hard could it be? I have over 500 gallons in freshwater tanks, this cant be that much worse." LOL, I was soon to be proven wrong....
I present my worst algae tank ever... 2012-09-15_20-04-59_103.jpg

What I do know... It is a 30-35 gallon tank with a about 50lbs of live rock... It has only 1 wavemaker in it (unsure of size), a protein skimmer, a "normal" filter and soon will also have a phosban reactor. It is currently occuppied by 2 blue damsels, 1 stripped damsel, and 2 tomato clownfish. There is also various crabs, snails and shrimp in there... (I know, I know... Overstocked. But no where to put the extra now that I have them.)

That is all I can think of for now...

It sounds like your nitrates and phosphates are over the top. Not a problem.
How often and how much water are you changing.
