The word on the street is that Central Pet and Garden is killing the Oceanic line (including biocubes).

Crap...i knew they got rid of most of their stuff overtime, but I figured that the biocube would stay. They destroyed oceanic.

There's a lot of unknowns right now. I've contacted my supplier to see what they can find out.

Central Garden & Pets isn't going out of business. Oceanic was bought out by them just like AGA was at one time. What they did for AGA was to pick a number of the most popular tank sizes, rebrand them as Aqueon Aquariums and then cancel all of the other sizes. They also dropped quite a few of AGA's nicer looking stands and canopies.

When Oceanic was bought, a lot of the grumbling was that they were just going to buy out the competition and kill the company. It's looking like that's possibly what they did. The one thing that Oceanic did that I didn't like was they constantly used proprietary accessories. (For instance, on a Biocube, if you wanted to extend the Loc-Line, you had to switch it out with Oceanic loc-line and not any other brand. If this brand is killed, once those spare parts are gone, they are gone forever).

    INTERESTING

The Central Pet Rep for the Midwest says this isn't true. He's calling their HQ to double-check.

I've seen this going around other reef news sites as well. Let us know when you get an update.

What I heard was partially wrong. They are getting rid of all of the big aquariums with the exception of the Illuminata. They are still keeping the "packaged" items though.
