quick update on this thread - did 1 gallon water change using water from 5ft again
brown almost gone completely now, being replaced by some red and green
snails on OT this week and probably needs a friend to assist

made a couple of changes - swapped the finger leather to make it nearly a centre piece it seems to enjoy the cascading effect from the HOB filter more than the toadies did
they also seem OK in their new position over on the right side

GSP encrusted oyster shell, fragged some weeks ago, glued onto shell and now starting to cover it - placed with about 2cm min either side of rock structure so hopefully it cant take over

small frag of pink zoanthids glued onto flat piece of dry plate coral

not a great image as these are very small frags glued on to rock rubble and bits of shells and then poked into crevises in the main rock structure - should look nice as they each expand

    thats it for today

Wow looking great! I had my pico det up as a reef but now it houses my Smithii mantis, a few brown polyps, a few different zoas, and a measly leather. Welcome to the trade!

LOVE the way it's coming together... Corals look great and healthy... Can't wait for my cycle do be over with.... I think I will start adding lifestock in about 2 weeks, then it's been cycling for over 5 weeks.

I have seen it DaDa and its looking good

You should go for it Jcaudillo you can basically annex your existing tank and thus the set up is relatively painless - not bought a coral for mine yet and probably will not have to

they are fun Patrick, the Mantis would be to large for mine, I dont want to put fish in there to be honest , but a duo of blood shrimps might be fun

Thanks Pelado , if you already have a mature tank and use water, sand etc from that one, the second one is fast tracked to a degree, with a new set up , I may just have the snail in thus far and that would be all.

WOW. Somehow I missed this Steve. Very nice. I wish I had the money to finish stocking my tank. Very jealous.

update - the tank finally has additional mobile life
purchased a pair of very small Peppermint shrimps ( they didnt have any other flavours)

the reason for these 2 being added is below
    [IMG]

one of about half a dozen aiptasia nems thats come in on the live rock (now I remember why I used base to build the large reef

the 2nd good hitchhiker ( the Astra snail counts as the 1st) a decent sized black fan worm

the FTS - not much changed, but its looking cleaner all the time IMO

and here he is, the star of the show , the workforce

and a nice close up of the toadies to finish
