Yes, eager beaver I was, tank set up with water from main reef, some sand from there, so the 5 Zoanthid polyp frag, was great for a couple of days in the nano, but Im back now to original plan, leave the snail, and wait until diatoms have cleared or at least one month - whichever comes later

    week 1 finished
diatoms arrived early for me in this set up, day 5, I noticed and by day 8 today, its pretty well covering most rock, sand and acrylic ( magnet on front glass before these images where taken) Zoanthid frag back in along with a frag of about 15 mini red ones

Ray, my 2 year olds head is in the bottom of the photo. he is in to everything presently, my water change buckets turn up in a new location each week LOL

added the 100 gph Minijet type power head to increase flow, the Aquaclear 20 was not moving any water really , with this you can see the flow but checked it with the Zoanthid frags early this week and all opened without any issues so its not to fierce in there

snail is doing great in there as you can see, temp stable at 26 now hence the decision to put the Zoanthids back

final image of the what I thought was a 5 head Zoanthid frag, but its about 8 or 9 heads

another 2 maybe 3 weeks of these diatoms and the tank should look new again

will be trying to find some actinic PL lamps over next couple of weeks, as with the 2 x white lamps Im not going to be able to display the zoanthids colours at their best

LOL...nasty looking diatoms on the snail I almost missed him being covered up like that :). The zoes look like they are happy and doing great. keep us posted.

My tank hasnt changed any. No diatoms or anything. So im just kicking back and waiting on the cycle. the little damsel is doing good and eating well so im just going to enjoy my clean tank for now.

Thanks Yamaharider , brown is already starting to fade, this is without doubt the earliest arrival of diatoms I have experienced, so Im hoping everything is on double time and it will be gone within next couple of weeks

thank you baugherb , fragged a few more zoa's from main tank last night, stuck them on some smaller rocks, and 1 empty mussel shell so when the brown clears, Ill have 3 or 4 small colonies in there pretty quickly

Very cool.. I'm still deciding if I like the idea of bare bottom or not.. Not really sure at this point.. I ended up glueing my zoa frags to the bottom with a small dab of superglue gel just to hopefully one day get coverage over the bottom of my tank... We'll see....
