serpent or brittle are reef safe,i'm sure theres more but those are the ones i know, theres also asterinas but they can become a nuisance in your tank by dividing.

Well, most true stars need some kind of unusual food source (at least, unusual to provide in a tank), like bacteria or bivalves. Because of this, there's not really anything that fits the bill as both reef safe and able to survive in a small tank.

I have a 28g and have a sand sifter star. I don't see him much but he is reef safe and does just fine in my small tank.

I don't know how long you've had it, or for how long, or how deep your sand bed is, but I'll point out that people have put them into 2+ year old tanks with 300+ pounds of sand and had them starve since they can deplete the sand bed of food extremely quickly.

Just about to mention that about the sand sifter. I kind of want a serpant start because the look so different. :) Like this one...

...ok well that didn't work. haha. I thought Live Aquaria used to sell an orange serpent star?

I remember there being a red serpent for a while, but not an orange one.
