    There are no dumb questions...

I dont know if that would work or not but its an idea

The SPS probably would encrust if you didnt constantly move it...good call

I don't think coral will grow that precisely.

You could look at getting a plastic/acrylic form in the shape you want and buy an encrusting monti or anything that encrusts really (zoas, even a favia/acans maybe) and just have it cover that shape. I saw a tank where someone tried this with some acrylic rings but couldn't get it to work properly for some reason, I forget what he thought the problem was though.

Yea, that would definitely work i bet with a man made form with the concrete material people are using for live rock to save the ocean...

Haha, i could just see oceanparadise hanging a yanks symbol encrusted like a pendent in the middle of his 180

Yeah the homemade cement mixtures people use for rocks would work too, for sure, you could make a mold and everything.

Actually you can control the direction they grow..you'll have to turn it occasionally. Most acros want to grow toward the light. Prune off branches that off shoot where you don't want them.

There would be a HUGE difference in how you did it if you use t5 or MH. You said you maybe something it could grow to: I think custom shaping a piece of LR and using zoas or encrusting SPS would be you best bet- not actually controlling the shape it grows in, just have a predetermined shape it grows on.

Zoas or plays really might be the best bet. Have some fire and ice zoas covering a B. Or for those with poorer tastes, a NY.
