Packleader, I have a hard time believing that the entire tank is tempered. It may be and I'm not trying to say you are wrong or start an argument but I've never seen a tank larger than a 55 gallon (have seen this) have all sides tempered.

I know what you mean. But it is. I and someone else both metered it.

I didn't vote because it might depend entirely on the implementation of both. I don't really see the benefit of a spray bar generally unless you really are pushing a ton of water through it for flow and even then I think there's gotta be a better way to get flow than that.
My main concern would just be what looks better in the tank? I'm not a big fan of a bunch of white PVC elbows hanging out all over the place but I also wouldn't like a big spray bar either.

Aesthetics is what I think would be the most important decision for me unless there's some benefit to a spray bar that I'm not aware of.

When I changed my overflow/return, I had to go over the back wall. I split my return with a tee. On one side I just have a line loc spray nozzle. You know, the flat one about an inch and a half across. The other side has a wye with two regular nozzles. I put all my flow down the back wall to keep things clean behind my rock.

So, with those nozzles, I don't have much velocity. I have a decent amount of return flow, and it is adequate, but I could not use any more "outlets". I don't like spray bars because it seems difficult to get flow right out of it.

Just don't forget that the more opening you have, the less velocity it will have. So it depends on what you are trying accomplish with this flow.

Uhm, has Sacrificial Damsel been consulted on this?
I hope your sake, Jason, that he is not easily offended as you consult us to design his liar without first asking Sacrificial Damsel.
I would vote for whichever configuration gives you more flow where you want it.

Couldn't tempered glass be drilled professionally? All glass aquariums have corner overflows drilled at the bottom of the tank. Isn't that tempered glass?

No. They put the holes in the glass before it is tempered.

Well, you know my pick. One pump to a spray bar and the other to two regular returns on either side. And, of course, I am correct, because I am SOOOOOO good looking. Really fine. Beyond Thunderdome fine. I love me.

Pack have you seen how I have my returns done on my tank. Check it out and see what you think. I have plenty of flow and can move them around VIA the lock lines. I have some coming out of the sand bed and I really love it. Check out my build thread and see what you think about that option. Let me add that when I do another tank it will be done the same way. Just a option for you.
