I have 2 Green Chromis, 1 for several months, the other for only 2. They had been getting along fine. I noticed about 2 weeks ago that one of them had discoloration. Now the other is chasing it around rather agressively. I don't know if the one that is having a problem is my original or new one. Is anyone familiar with this problem? This is the best photo of it I was able to get... you can see the streaks of discoloration... but the photo doesn't really look the same with the naked eye. Thanks!

i had this happen once. 2 of the chromis kinda of made a "pair" and will torment the other to its demise. maybe another chromis would help or removing the picked on one would help.

Chromis are damsels in disguise. Unless you only have 2 and they're a mated pair, they will pick each other off until only one dominant fish remains. Only very large tanks can support a large enough school of chromis to spread out this type of aggression.

hmm... well, I'm concerned about the feeding now. I was only feeding 1 time a day... mostly because when I leave in the morning, they are still in hiding behind the rocks. I did try to catch him, because I do have a 5gal tank with no fish at the moment, and I was going to quarantine him for a while... but impossible to catch.

thanks for the help... I will start feeding in the morning as well.

They seem to do better in odd number shools.

    HI,
I keep 5 in my 37 tal with seahorses, and 5 in my 55 they stay off to their selfs always moving, stay clear of the larger tang and angels,. I have one that looks a little ruff little spots from time to time.
He's the newest addition to replace a jumper, I am begining to think that all fish go thru periods of adjustment to your tank, it could be something like saltwater ICk or other's nipping it,
I try and feed green first some of the green flake with garlic seems to help them fight off ick after a couple months every one in my tank seems to devople a immunity to ick, so I don't treat tanks any more . If they eat well they will survive unless they are overly stressed by water quality or mean fish.
So I would take it slow feed a little green flakes daily before meat, and wait and see.
    Doug.
I read somewhere that fish groups do better with odd numbers 3,5 ,7 and so on not sure why I am sure someone will know the reason. So I try to buy three clarki not four..

My tangs and angels all went thru a little ick when I first got them even the young clarki but now everyone is perfect and healthy. Diet and Immune response may be you strongest tool for healthy fish, and water quality helps too.
