    Hi,
I just bought a ro/di unit and i want to install it under the sink.
Do you put a shut off valve before the water entering the unit or after so there always preasureized water in the unit.

How is your plumbing set up?

Before. You need to isolate any line. Be sure your connections are solid. A co-worker went out of town on vacation and their RO line came off in the kitchen sink upstairs. Two weeks and 30,000 gallons later they came home and gutted half their upstairs and the entire downstairs. $100,000 in damage and 8 weeks in a hotel. Just sayin...

EDIT: I'm just talking about isolation valves. If you are talking about the auto shut off valve, then I don't think it would matter, but I don't know. Perhaps someone can answer that.

i have my ball valve before the RO unit. no reason excpet thats where the instructions said to put it (bulk reef supply)

i think the only problem with putting it afterwould be more stuff to potential leak. (canster o-rings, bypass valves, ect

i have a second ball valve on the end of my line, just to keep it from dripping all over the place when i am done

If your unit has an autoshutoff valve you can install a valve on the outlet, If it des not you would install a valve on the inlet otherwise the waste line wiuld continue to flow. This is true of all RO or RO/DI units.
