My pumps are a little too loud. Anyone know of some sort of DIY sound proofing for the cabinet?

i had a boatload of noise, everything i read about soundproofing pretty much said that covering the cabinet won't help so i didnt bother trying, what i did do was play with my pumps and move things around until they werent touching the sumps glass, just bending the hose thats connected to the input of my skimmer made a huge difference in how loud that pump was for some reason. i know what you're going through,i didnt like to be in the same room with my tank when it was loud.

The problem with insulating your cabinet is trapping heat. I put foam in the back of my stand and the Temp went to 90 over night...... be careful!

I had a lot of pump noise and it dove me crazy. I got a filter media pad and placed it on the bottom of the sump and then put the pumps on top of it. What a difference!

+ 1 on the media pads That really wors well and plus it helps pit up floating stuff that you don't want anyway and they are easily changed I buy big sheets then cut small pieces to size.
