Does it normally float, or sink?

My tank was just born two days ago, and today I threw some Chaeto in my fuge under a 15 watt, 6500K flourescent flood bulb in a drop-light reflector.

For some reason, I was expecting it to float, but it sinks right down. Is that normal?

And, do you experts think my choice of lighting will work?

    Thanks!

It wont really float but will be kind suspended in the water. as far as lighting, well the more you have the faster it will grow and more nutrients will be exported. I bought a simple clip on light socket from HD for about 9 bucks and a 65W 6700k fluorescent bulb also from HD for about 7 bucks.Cheap and works great

Chaeto grows best when it's tumbled.

Sweet. The bulb you used, and the ones in the link to Melv's, are VERY similar to mine. The package said "65 Watt" I believe, but in fine print it's really only 15.

From the thread at Melv's, it looks like I don't even need the reflector. I kinda figured that, since the bulb has an internal reflector anyway so the big clunky aluminum one doesn't accomplish much anyway.
