are you sure you don't have a mantis hiding in there someplace? Do you hear clicking or tapping coming from the tank at times?

Wouldn't copper in the water hurt my fish & cleaner shrimp too though? I do use tap. I have been meaning to test for copper, but haven't gotten to Lowe's. I haven't used any copper treatments & actually haven't needed to use treatments at all for that matter.

Not sure on the mantis. That would be neat. I haven't gotten any LR in a few months, but I guess a hitch hiker is always a possibility. If I fond one I can put it in my QT & trade it in at my LFS, or get store credit. lol I kinda hope I have one.

Maybe switch. I don't buy inverts from a couple of stores for just that reason. I have snails that are 8 years old... so it's not my tank. It's their source or their acclimation.

my money is on the cleaner shrimp. "cleaner" shrimp love to eat snails. peps are bad, scarlet/skunks are worse, coral banded aren't as bad despite their mean temper to any other shrimp.

    he does now....;D

IMO it is the hermits. If you dont feed them they will eat the snails. Any snails that hit the sand were written off in my book.
