or I think something ate it, I don't know. One of my clownfish his tail fin is half missing. Im not sure if something bit it off or got him self caught in the koralia powerhead, you know how clowns always rest at the filter intake at night time or stuck on the wall, sometimes I see them resting on the koralia powerhead where the water goes in, maybe his tail got stuck that way, I don't know. I recently picked up a pretty large female cleaner shrimp that even has eggs in it for 15 bucks at lfs. I don't think she did it? I also got coral beauty, 6 line wrasse, and 1 more smaller clown fish.

I also do have to mention 2 days ago, both clowns fell overboard to the back side of biocube, and when I noticed them missing the next morning both clowns were on the middle section on that black rack of biocube 29. with bearly little water splashing on them so I rushed to get them in tank, I just took out the black tray from the middle section and just put it in the water, and they started to swim perfectly fine as nothing as ever happend to them. But I did not notice the tail missing on one of my clown untill today, and that was 2 days ago.

Anyway currently the clown with missing tail fil is still swimming fine?
eating well, just looks normal untill you look up close to see its half of tail fin missing.

What do you think may have caused it?

It could be injury, but if you didnt notice it at the time I dought it. I have never heard of a power head takeing off a tail, but that doesnt mean it didnt. I am more inclined to think it is tail rot. Either way you need to qt the fish. As long as it is swimming fine and showing no signs of distress, I would qt and feed lots of garlic, If it becomes distressed you may have to treat it.
