Soft corals more closely related to shrimps than hard corals!

    Yep. I definitely didn't see this coming. I'm not surprised soft corals didn't evolve from the same family tree as hard corals (they are actually quite different if you think about it), but their relation to arthropods is wild.

    You are right on the thought process and the association with arthropods is very wild. Never would have thought that.

    So they are a fancy evolved copepod? I would never have guessed that. lol
