How long can I let it sit in vinegar for?
    Salt is just stuck solid.

Can i leave it over night after a good scrubbing?
Then comeback tomorrow and srub it some more?

You can leave it in for weeks and it won't hurt anything. And no worries if a little vinegar residue remains in the tank as vinegar is a carbon source for bacteria in your tank. On the other hand, a little bit of soap or bleach residue remaining in the tank can kill everything you plan on putting in it if you don't give it enough time to be broken down or removed (by say carbon). For this reason I always use just vinegar, either undiluted or diluted up to 4:1 with water.
