    I've used bleach/ water mix, or white vinegar/ water mix. IMO, stay away from detergents/ soaps.

    Diluted bleach or distilled white vinegar...be sure to rinse it again and again before use!

    Agreed,just cleaned a 10g with scale build up,used straight vinigar and a little elbow grease,looks like new!Also after you rinse it really good,rinse it again :cheesy:

    No soap, ever, vinegar and water mix and a few good rinses.

    If the tank is empty, you can use almost anything you want. Soap, bleach, vinegar, CLR are all fine IME. Be sure to rinse and allow to dry, and you'll be able to see if the glass is absolutely clean. If it is, IMO there's not enough of anything left to pose a threat.

    i used 100% vineger on some freshwater glass algae and calcium deposits. got everything done in under 1 hour. i couldnt even get that stuff with a razor. but soaking it in vinegar, in twenty minutes it just sludged off.
