I think until you know your mag levels then you wont know what to adjust. I had a bad hydrometer and had the salinity from 1.020 to 1.030 and my snails were ok. i dont think that salinity is your problem I would look to your mag and see what that brings you. Sick tank size too. You have any pics?

Chiming in: Is that 350 gallons or liters? Damn, dude.

Second the comment on copper, or possibly stray voltage. My suggestion will cost you about $20... get a volt meter and stick the probes in the water. See if you read anything on volts or amps-- may be a smallish number (eg 0.006V) but not much.
Step two: take a sample of water to the LFS for testing with chemical kits, just in case your meter is off.

    350 gallons.
Not looking as good as usual due to pH/magnesium problems.

Kickass looking tank - if you say it's not as good as usual, it really must be awesome! 350 gallons - I wish I could have one that large :)

thanks! I've been doing water changes everyday to lower mag and put a few more snails in to see if they do ok. Hopefully if they eat the excess algae thats been building up it will be back to where it should be.

I'd still be interested in finding out what your magnesium is. It is a very important buffering factor between your calcium and alkalinity. Btw, what type of source water are you using. Certain types of water, including tap water, can have a drastically low pH, bringing down your overall pH. And are you using a refractometer to measure your salinity or just a cheap hydrometer? Sometimes those hydrometers can be off by a large amount, meaning your salinity could technically be down at 1.019, etc.

Have you done any sugar/alcohol dosing? I had PH trouble for quite awhile after an inadvertent dose.

sorry to hear your little guys are having problems. I recently picked up some chestnut turbos and they kept falling off for a couple days. Now they finally seem to be sticking.

I was thinking about the stray voltage as well because that's the reason some of my snails keep dropping and led them to there demise. Just touch your water inside tank and feal if there is electrical shock happening.
