From your stock the snails would probably be the first affected by copper but you'd probably know if that was the case already. Ask your LFS to test it for you.

If your readings are good I just added a small cucumber... could not tell you what type but this thing is going to town on the hair algae...problem is the larger angels seem to taste it from time to time.

    Voltage

Oh yeah sorry i was thinking some test probe...

As a matter of fact i was hooking up my skimmer and the outlet was shut off and so it got the floor wet and some power cords i then put a towel down to soak it up and i kept working on the skimmer and i had a finger nail hangnail it was a little sore and when i put my hand in the water wow shocked me but only at the tiny cut on my pinky. OK so i know now i need GFI's and a probe? I'll be doing some reading on this.. this just happened last week!

    Thanks for sharing,
    Mike

shouldnt any receptacle be a gfi when used around water? that was the 1st thing i did for numerous reasons, mostly for fire and shock. easy to install and a nice safe feeling.

most likely - hermit ate your snails
agree you should have all gcfi around your tank, otherwise risk fire and/or electrocution

personally, i think the stray voltage thing is a little bit of an urban reef legend. fortunately, grounding probes are cheap
