my brother loves dendros and duncans he wants to make a tank for just them but he wants it to be as small as possible because he lives in a closet sized apartment. i told him i could spare a frag off of my colony for him to get started. so how small can he go? he is perfectly fine with doing small daily water changes so i dont think he needs any crazy filtration if much at all.he will not be keeping any fish or other coral just the frag i provide and i can frag it when it starts to get to big.

his initial idea was to put it in a big glass sauce jar i have at my house. lighting isnt a concern because they arent photosynthetic. thats part of the draw to him.i saw hemispherical tanks that hang on the wall which i thought might work awesome with limited space.

I think a half gallon tank would be to small, even the one is pushing it. Unless he built an auto top of system. The swings would be way to great for the duncans. And if you were going to build an auto top off then its worth it to just get the three gallon.
