i have a 22 gallon nano with an external canister filter with carbon pad in it and a HOB protien skimmer. can i just remove the carbon pad ( so that i don't have to keep changing it ) and just use the skimmer. would that be sufficient ;D

I run carbon 24/7 so I would vote to keep it.

A week or two without carbon and my tank will start to smell.
It's a must have for me. It should be in a reactor or canister like you have but mine is just in a sock in the sump. (I know I'm not getting the full benefit.)
