Hey everyone. Well I have a hang on Bak-Pak2 and i'm looking into replacing the power head. I am wondering...what would be the consequences of getting a new skimmer? The Bak-Pak is great...but it has a sort of filter area with bio-bail...and i dont know if im supposed to be cleaning it.

    Thanks

i would think you would change it like any other filter media but a change in skimmer may help you in the long run

If you have a BAK PAk with the biobale media then you are not supposed to clean it in FW because you will kill off the beneficial bacteria. You can rinse it in SW. If you have a reef tank and dont need the bio filtration then just remove the media from skimmer.

I dont think you will have any problems with the loss of the bio filtration by removing the media. If you still have concerns then remove 1/3 of it every few days to let the tank adjust.
