OK.....here's my first question for this forum: Is it possible to add a skimmer to a 24G cube? I've tried those useless dinky Fusion skimmers. I want to actually be able to skim some muck from the tank but short of yanking off the lid (and lights) to hang a skimmer, I can't come up with a plan. Are frequent water changes an alternative solution? Does anyone run a sump with a cube? Thanks for any advice............Kas

Well it sounds like you survived the party with the Japanese last night.
Have you looked at a Remora HOB skimmer ! ? I used to have one on my 55g and it worked great and they don't take up much room.

I know what.....just get a larger tank. ;) Jim owes you after last night. :p
Tell him you want his CC#.. :tongue4:

I tried the Fission skimmer...I think in my previous post I called it a Fusion. Didn't like it....it kept falling over or falling apart and was very difficult getting it in and out of the back chamber for filter changes. I found these: Sapphire Aquatics NanoSkimmer AP24 Protein Skimmer
but they're out-of-stock right now. Has anyone tried this skimmer? I would like to add a sump to the little nano but can't figure out how to rig it up without cutting holes, etc in the tank....which is glass.

Scott....the tempura party was canceled yesterday due to all the guys working late. But, it's been rescheduled for today at 3pm. Hey, come on over and join the craziness! Jim told me you were a good sport trying all the Asian foods while in Japan...well, except the live squid! I need an expert to check out my tanks and offer advice. ;D How can you refuse? All the tempura you can eat and lots of "tank talk". Doesn't get any better than that! Kas

Unless Soda cost that much in Japan which I don't think it does, you can count me out of running the bar bill up. Haven't drank in 14yrs and don't plan on starting again any time soon. ;)
I have been e-mailing Tux to see if I can come visit MAP this week so if he goes for it then I HAVE to stop by and see the tank. Can look then and see if there is room for a sump. They are easy to plumb if you have the room.
Sure woundn't pay to eat that stuff over here. I ate the squid after they cooked it. Sitting there looking at me didn't make me very hungry..

I have a 12 gal nano cube with a 10 gallon sump.. I have a airdriven protein skimmer and it works great. My buddy at my lfs gave it to me. Don't know what kind it is but i can find out... You should be able to see my setup if you click on the camera... I did a sump for cooling purposes mostly, but I did put my skimmer in there 2. I had a fusion nano skimmer in my cube but the thing didn't do crap.. Any more questions feel free to ask...........

Yeah, Jim told me you don't drink alcohol...was glad to hear it-thought you'd be a good influence on him while in Japan but apparently it didn't work! ::) Would love to have you over to see what can be done with my 24G. Money is no object....Jim owes me one! Kas

Nice cube Baugherb! All that plumbing and wires makes me dizzy! Gorgeous tank....my goal is to have a small tank that looks like yours. Are you using the standard lights that came with the tank? I have compact F's that came in the hood. Will they support coral or an anemone for my clown? Kas

I have 2 24 watt bulbs in my tank... the lights did come standard with the dx... I'm to new to say much about your lights. My 48 watts total worked out well for my anenome. It was huge before I got rid of him for more corals....
