    The only reason why I ask is that the closer you stay to fresh water, the less chance of diseases. I help out at a local pet store,marine only(no chain), and they keep the salinity at about 1.020 to reduce problems.

    I have, but from my understanding corals prefer about 1.025

    Coarals like more "food". A higher salinity gives them that, but you can also use supplements to "feed" them. Or you can do more frequent water changes, i.e. adding more food.

    My Apex is connected to the internet. My computer is never connected to the controller. It's just a direct connection to the controller on the tank. I can turn outlets on and off on my blackberry, view stats, re-program the controller, do whatever I need to - remotely.
